By 5.30pm the battle was over. Many
thousands had died. William had won the crown of England.
After the battle, William ordered an Abbey to be built to remember those who died. A town grew up around this abbey, called 'Battle'. Battle Abbey can still be seen today. William had won the battle, but now he had to take control of his new kingdom. |
